Description:
San Luis Obispo County is seeking an experienced, innovative and
driven professional for the position of Director of General
Services. This executive level position requires an experienced
leader who is committed to meeting the needs of both internal and
external customers. The General Services Director serves at will
to the County Administrative Officer. With a budget of
approximately $18M, the Director will oversee approximately 96.5
full time positions in multiple operating divisions. This
position advises, assists, and is responsible to the County
Administrative Officer for the proper and efficient management of
the County General Services Department.
The General Services Department was recently formed as an
independent department to provide improved service delivery and
oversight in the areas of: Capital Project Management, Building
and Facilities Management, Purchasing and Real Property
Management. The Department is currently responsible for managing
over $100 million of capital and maintenance projects
including:
• $45M Women’s jail expansion and jail modernization project
• $30M Airport Terminal expansion and modernization project
• $22.2M Juvenile Hall expansion
• $3.2M New Atascadero Library
• $3.0M Restoration of the Cayucos Pier
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate shall possess a combination of training, education, and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies necessary for the successful management of the General Services Department. The most competitive candidates will have graduated from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in construction management, business administration, public administration or a related field and have five years of management experience with a public sector agency, construction management, building facilities or similar organizations.
