The City of Fresno has an exceptional career opportunity for Economic Development Director. The Director reports to the City Manager and is responsible for directing the activities of the City’s Economic Development Program. The primary duties of this key position include, but are not limited to full management responsibility for the development, administration and implementation of comprehensive economic development programs and activities including business development, assistance programs, and the City’s various incentive zones. The incumbent will develop and direct both short-term and long-term economic plans, programs, and activities to encourage the retention, expansion and location of economic activity; coordinate marketing plans to maximize business development potential; and make presentations about the Fresno economy and economic opportunities. This is an unclassified position in which the incumbent serves at the will of the City Manager. Qualifications:

The requirements for this position include a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major courses in urban or regional planning, economics, business administration, public administration or a closely related field, and five years of responsible experience in real estate development, economic development, redevelopment, planning, incentive zone designations or innovative business development programs. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis, up to a maximum of two (2) years. Possession of a valid California Driver’s License is required at time of appointment.
