Description:

San Joaquin County, with its warm, Mediterranean climate, offers an abundance of activities and attractions for every age range and budget. The San Joaquin Delta, where the Sacramento and San Joaquin Rivers meet before entering the San Francisco Bay, is rich with agricultural heritage that translates into fresh food available year-round. Established by State law in 1963, the Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCo) is responsible for coordinating logical and timely changes in local governmental boundaries, including: annexations and detachments of territory; incorporations of cities; formations of special districts; and consolidations, mergers, and dissolutions of districts. LAFCo also reviews ways to reorganize, simplify, and streamline governmental structure. The San Joaquin LAFCo is seeking a highly motivated, innovative, and collaborative individual to serve as Executive Officer.

The ideal candidate is a strategic leader and effective communicator who strives to improve relationships with the Commission and stakeholders. The new Executive Officer is a critical thinker with high political acumen and is a talented leader who has the ability to prioritize, plan, assign, and direct the work of staff and others. A candidate with attention to detail and a positive attitude will be successful. Qualified candidates possess a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in public administration, urban/regional planning, geography, economics, political science, or a related field, and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in a public agency performing administrative and financial oversight, planning, or similar duties. The salary range for this position is $122,158 to $149,344 plus a 5% increase proposed. San Joaquin LAFCo also offers an excellent benefits package.
