The California State Association of Counties (CSAC) is recruiting a Legislative Coordinator. We’re looking for an organized and motivated professional interested in supporting a broader advocacy team that works on pressing issues in California, to better our communities and meet the needs of all Californians.

The Legislative Coordinator performs a variety of policy activities of varying complexity, including research and analysis on various state and federal proposals as well as writing policy documents for internal use for ongoing future advocacy efforts. This position will also provide routine and non-routine administrative support to the Chief Policy Officer, Legislative Advocates, and Legislative Analysts. Specific responsibilities also include providing support in the research, tracking, and analysis of bills; preparing and distributing reports; independently preparing and proofing original documents and correspondence; making travel arrangements; providing scheduling support; coordinating event logistics; and, other duties as needed.

As the voice of California’s 58 counties, CSAC advocates for counties throughout state and federal lawmaking processes and helps develop and communicate policies that directly impact the programs and services provided by counties. We communicate our positions to the Legislature, Governor’s office, agencies, commissions, and other state bodies through testimony, letters, and meetings.

Requirements:

The Legislative Coordinator performs the day-to-day core functions and processes necessary for the successful operation of CSAC’s lobbying and advocacy efforts on behalf of counties. An ideal candidate would have experience in research and written analysis and the ability to perform a full suite of professional administrative duties.

Qualified candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree or four years of experience working with the State Legislature or local government, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

Salary:

The salary range for this position is $60,000-90,000 annually, dependent on qualifications. CSAC offers a full benefits package, including pension.
