The City of Torrance is recruiting for Management Associates to be part of the City Manager’s Office and Emergency Services Team! The Management Associate conducts administrative research on special projects, performs administrative analyses contributing to the improvement and increased efficiency of municipal operations, assists in the preparation and formulation of the City budget. prepares special reports, and serves as liaison between departments. The Management Associate assigned to the Office of Emergency Services will develop and coordinate the City’s Emergency Operations Plan in accordance with the Standardized Emergency Management System (SEMS). The Management Associate assigned to the City Manager’s Office will manage City Council agenda process and serve as the Land Management Lead.

Qualifications:

Graduation from a college or university with a Bachelor’s degree with four years of experience in management research, development or organization and methods. One year of graduate study may be substituted for one year of required experience. When assigned to the Office of Emergency Services, one year of experience in performing analytical duties related to programs for emergency management and/or emergency response or recovery is preferred. Possession of a valid class California Class C driver’s license. Management Associate (Office of Emergency Services): -Experience in developing and implementing disaster preparedness training and operations; -Experience in establishing and/or participating in emergency operations center; -Possess or plan to obtain Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) / Associate Emergency Management (AEM) credential. Management Associate (City Manager’s Office): -Experience in Municipal Planning Principals and Environmental Regulatory Requirements; -Coursework in Real Estate Principals and Lease Management; -Understanding of Telecommunication leases and colocation opportunities; -Experience with Council or Commission agenda processing and management; -Understanding of legislative engagement and grant management.
