Description:

The City of Sunnyvale is seeking a Senior Planner to perform, plan, direct and supervise professional planning activities in the Planning Division of the Community Development Department. Under general direction of the Assistant Director of Community Development, duties will include a variety of complex technical planning activities relative to an assigned area of responsibility.

The Senior Planner is the advanced journey-level classification in the Planner series. Incumbents are responsible for more complex projects and planning project management and differs from the lower-level Associate Planner classification in that the Associate Planner performs more routine planner duties.

Qualifications:

The minimum qualifications for education and experience can be met in the following ways:

(1) A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in urban planning, architecture or a related field; AND
Five years of city planning experience.

OR

(2) A Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in urban planning, architecture or a related field; AND
Four years of city planning experience.
