Description:

The primary responsibility of a Property Technician is to receive, catalogue, store, maintain, control, release, and/or destroy property, evidence, or other items that have been recovered. This position is assigned to the Enforcement Operations Bureau, Forensics Services Unit.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively. The ideal candidate will exercise independent judgment and initiative in managing the property room.

The Eligible List established by this recruitment process may be used to fill current as well as potential future vacancies throughout the Department as they arise.

Qualifications:

Interpret and apply applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations; Safely handle heavy items and those containing chemical or biological hazards; Maintain accurate and highly organized records and property/evidence; Testify in Court; Maintain confidentiality; Maintain accurate records; Access and operate various automated criminal justice information systems to research the disposition of cases
Required Conditions of Employment: Successfully pass a thorough background/suitability process; Possess a valid CA Class C Driver’s License, at time of hire
