CSAC Elects New Slate of Officers
Stanislaus County Supervisor Vito Chiesa Elected President
CSAC’s new President, Stanislaus County Supervisor Vito Chiesa, is well positioned to help lead the organization through the policy currents and eddies of 2015. Supervisor Chiesa’s long history of public service makes him a trusted and respected voice for counties among state and federal policy-makers. He was first elected to the Stanislaus Board of Supervisors in 2008 and has also served as President of the Stanislaus County Fair Board, President of the Stanislaus County Farm Bureau, Director for the Modesto Chamber of Commerce and State Director for the California Farm Bureau.
“Supervisor Chiesa’s knowledge, experience and passion for helping people make him a real asset to Stanislaus County and I know he’ll extend that to all 58 California Counties as CSAC President,” said CSAC Executive Director Matt Cate. “He has already been extremely helpful in the State Capitol as we work on ground water management, budget issues and criminal justice realignment.”
“Counties deal with issues that impact all of our daily lives such as health care, public safety, water and transportation,” said Supervisor Chiesa. “CSAC’s role representing Counties in Sacramento is critical. With the State budget situation improving, the California will hopefully be able to catch up on deferred payments to Counties sooner than expected. And the drought and other water issues will also be on our agenda for 2015. I am looking forward to a busy year.”
CSAC’s new slate of Officers, elected November 20 at the Association’s 120th Annual Meeting in Anaheim, Orange County, also includes Amador County Supervisor Richard Forster as First Vice President and San Diego County Supervisor Dave Roberts as Second Vice President. Contra Costa County Supervisor John Gioia, CSAC’s 2014 President, will serve as Immediate Past President.
“Each of these individuals has a long history of thoughtful leadership and a passion for public service in their home counties,” said CSAC Executive Director Matt Cate. “As an officer team, their years of service, experience and credibility help us tell the county story to state and federal policymakers. I am looking forward to working with them in Sacramento and in Washington, D.C.”
