Administration of Justice Policy Committee Meets at the CSAC Annual Conference

The CSAC Administration of Justice (AOJ) policy committee met Thursday, December 5th at the CSAC Annual Conference in San Francisco County.  The agenda topics for the meeting included: a discussion about juvenile justice reform in California, the presentation and approval of the Juvenile Justice Facilities in California: Report and Tool Kit and a presentation of advocacy efforts of 2019 and approval of the AOJ 2020 legislative priorities.

The first panel focused on the juvenile justice reform in California.  The committee heard from David Steinhart, a juvenile justice expert, about the state of juvenile justice in California. After David’s presentation, CSAC staff presented the Juvenile Justice Facilities in California: Report and Tool Kit and the committee approved the report. Lastly, CSAC staff provided a brief overview of Advocacy and Outreach efforts and a preview of the upcoming 2020 legislative session, which begins in less than a month.

The following priorities were discussed and approved by the committee: Criminal Justice Fines and Fees; Trial Court Security; Bail Reform; and Juvenile Justice.
