BSCC Collects Supplemental Data on Jail and Juvenile Detention Facility Populations

April 23, 2020

The Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC) recently implemented a Supplemental Jail Profile Survey to collect data from county sheriffs and chief probation officers on average daily population, bookings, and releases related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The supplemental jail and juvenile detention profile surveys are now available on the BSCC website.

Each of the dashboards below includes details on how the data was requested and collected.

The information does not include the number of COVID-19 cases in local detention facilities. It does attempt to show how populations have been affected by policies related to the virus, specifically, those implemented to mitigate the potential impact of COVID-19 (e.g., creating social distancing space, necessary for quarantine, transfer for hospital care, inability to transfer to another detention facility, or unavailability of court proceedings).
