Cal OES to Host Hazard Mitigation Policy Summit

October 12 Update- This event has been postponed to early 2022.

September 30, 2021

State, federal, and local emergency managers, and policymakers are invited to join Cal OES on November 3, 2021, for a Zoom conference to discuss the current status of hazard mitigation policy and action in California, and the critical next steps needed to ensure a safer future for all of California.

Californians are currently battling wildfire, drought, and the COVID-19 pandemic. These compounding hazards highlight the need to make policies and investments that will build resilience, especially in the state’s most vulnerable communities. Proactive mitigation actions, taken now to reduce or eliminate the long-term risk to human life, property, and the environment from hazards, are the key to building that resilience.

Featured speakers include Ryan Buras, Cal OES Deputy Director for Recovery, and Jennifer Hogan, State Hazard Mitigation Officer. Registration information and link to follow. For updated agenda and registration information, please visit the Cal OES, Mitigation Planning website
