CSAC Administration of Policy Committee Meets at the CSAC Annual Conference

The CSAC Administration of Justice Policy Committee met on Thursday, November 29,at the 124th CSAC Annual Meeting in San Diego County. The agenda topics for the meeting included: a discussion on the California Money Bail Reform Act of 2017, a CSAC platform update presentation from CSAC staff and a look at the 2019 legislative priorities.

The first panel focused on the California Money Bail Reform Act of 2017.  The committee heard from Shelley Curran, Director of Criminal Justice Services with the Judicial Council. Ms. Curran updated the committee members and audience on SB 10 and its impending implementation.

Additionally, CSAC staff presented to the members and attendees an overview of the Administration of Justice Policy Platform recommended changes that were discussed approved by the committee.

Lastly, CSAC staff also provided the committee members and attendees with a brief overview of 2018 advocacy and outreach efforts along with a preview of the upcoming 2019 legislative session, which begins in less than a month. The following priorities were discussed and approved by the committee:

  • Mental Health Diversion.
  • Bail Reform.
  • Trial Court Security.
  • Implementation of Domestic Violence Intervention Programs.
  • Juvenile Hall Repurposing.
