DHCS Releases Opioid Settlements Expenditure Reporting Form – Reporting Period Now Open

On August 1, the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) released the opioid settlements Expenditure Reporting Form to participating subdivisions (counties and cities) receiving opioid settlement funds for use for the reporting period July 1, 2022 – June 30, 2023. Participating subdivisions receiving funds from the opioid settlements are required to complete annual expenditure reporting to DHCS.

The reporting period opened on August 1, 2023, and will run through September 30, 2023. Although the expenditure reporting form is due September 30, 2023, for the State Fiscal Year 2022-2023 reporting period, the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) has indicated it will allow a one-time grace period for expenditure form submissions and will accept submissions until October 31, 2023.                                                                     

Opioid settlement funds in this instance refer to final and proposed agreements between California and opioid distributors and manufacturers: McKesson, Cardinal Health, and AmerisourceBergen (collectively, the Distributors); Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc.; Teva, Allergan; and pharmacies Walmart, Walgreens, and CVS (collectively, the Pharmacies).
