Feedback Needed: Wildland-Urban Interface Best Practices

August 5, 2021

In a new survey, the State is seeking input from counties, planners, fire professionals, land managers, and other wildfire specialists on wildland-urban interface (WUI) best practices from across California. The results will be used to inform the development of a WUI best practices inventory and case studies that will focus on community-scale land-use planning interventions (as opposed to larger, regional or landscape-scale forest or natural lands vegetative management). The survey is being conducted by the Board of Forestry & Protection, Governor’s Office of Planning and Research (OPR), Community Wildfire Planning Center (CWPC), and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE).

It is critical that the results reflect the perspectives and experiences of counties, and CSAC would like to highly encourage counties to take the survey by Tuesday, August 17. If you have any questions please contact Catherine Freeman (cfreeman@counties.org) and Ada Waelder (awaelder@counties.org).
