Federal Health Care Innovation Grants Now Available

The Health Care Innovation Challenge initiative has announced the availability of significant federal grants to help reorganize care delivery to achieve improved patient and cost outcomes.

Funded by the Affordable Care Act and operating out of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the Health Care Innovation Challenge (HCIC) will award grants from $1 million to $30 million over the next three years. Applications are open to local government, providers, payers, community-based organizations.

These new HCIC grants are earmarked for projects that will improve the care and health of people enrolled in Medicare, Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program – with an emphasis on indigent health care needs. The HCIC is especially interested in public-private partnerships and multi-payer approaches. Eligible projects must be operable within six months or receiving an award, and each participating program will be monitored and measured to ensure compliance with federal grant requirements.
