Health and Human Services Bills of Interest

May 30, 2019

CSAC supports AB 826 (Reyes) related to the provision of behavioral health services to children placed out of their home counties by child welfare agencies and probation departments. This bill has passed the Assembly and is now heading to the Senate. In partnership with the County Welfare Directors Association of California, County Behavioral Health Directors Association of California, and the Chief Probation Officers of California, CSAC worked with the author’s office on a series of amendments. With these amendments, AB 826 will address implementation issues that have been identified with AB 1299 (Chapter 603, Statutes of 2016) and ensure that effective services can be provided in a timely manner to our foster children and youth. Full details are available in our coalition support letter.
