Housing, Land Use and Transportation update 10/10/2014

Local Street and Roads Needs Assessment Webinar Announced

The results are in for the biennial Local Streets and Roads Assessment conducted by CSAC, the League of California Cities and our regional transportation planning partners from the MPOs and RTPAs. Once again, the report has concluded that California’s local system remains on the brink of a rapid, downward condition spiral if maintenance funding shortfalls are not addressed.

The official report will be released on Tuesday, Oct. 28 but cities, counties and transportation officials are invited to see the results before anyone else. CSAC and our partners will hold an advanced briefing on this crucial research on Tuesday, October. 23. This free webinar will cover the report’s findings, what they mean for your community, and how you can help spread the word. The 2014 update surveyed all of California’s 482 cities and 58 counties, capturing data from more than 99 percent of the state’s local streets and roads.

This webinar is free for League and CSAC members and partners. Please register at http://www.cacities.org/events no later than 5 p.m. on Oct. 20. Webinar log-in information and background materials will be distributed by October 21. Due to a 500-line limit, we request that you coordinate amongst your county staff and watch and participate in the webinar at one centralized location, thereby only requiring a single registration per county.

For registration questions, please contact Megan Dunn at mdunn@cacities.org. For all other questions related to the streets and roads report, please contact Kiana Buss.
