Introduction to the National Standards for Criminal Justice Coordinating Councils and Essential Elements of CJCCs Webinar

The National Institute of Corrections (NIC), via a webinar on Tuesday, June 27 from 10:00 – 11:30 am, Introduction to the National Standards for Criminal Justice Coordinating Councils and Essential Elements of CJCCsoffers two groundbreaking resources to assist jurisdictions in shaping high-performing Criminal Justice Coordinating Councils (CJCCs). CJCCs are bodies of executive-level decision-makers that work collaboratively to enhance public safety.

The webinar will delve into the Essential Elements of Criminal Justice Coordinating Councils, a companion resource to the national standards. The ten core characteristics of effective CJCCs will be presented to guide jurisdictions in forming a new council or strengthening an existing one. Additionally, two useful tools will be shared that jurisdictions can easily use to bolster their CJCC, making the council more productive and effective.

Additionally, this webinar will introduce participants to the national standards for criminal justice coordinating councils. These new standards outline the framework for structuring a CJCC, and the webinar will provide useful information on applying the standards to generate meaningful results.

Lastly, during this 90-minute interactive webinar, participants will:

  • Gain knowledge about using the new national standards and associated guiding principles to improve local criminal justice systems.
  • Discover ten key attributes associated with high-performing councils and how they translate into effective practices
  • Learn how to use the CJCC checklist and CJCC assessment tool for setting up new councils or strengthening existing ones.
