New Comment Period Opens on Board of Forestry Regulations

May 12, 2022

The State Board of Forestry and Fire Protection has published the newest version of their Fire Safe Regulations, which was revised to account for the last round of public comment. The new draft has been significantly amended, with a much narrower scope than the January version. The package now focuses more specifically on development requirements for fuel breaks, greenbelts, and ridgelines, as outlined in Senate Bill 901 (Chapter 626, Statutes of 2018).

The new draft is now open for a 15-day public comment period which will close on Friday, May 27, 2022 at 5pm. CSAC is working closely with the Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC) to analyze the language and encourages counties to reach out to Catherine Freeman (cfreeman@counties.org) with questions or concerns.
