State and Federal Workshops on Water and Floodplain Management in June

Coming up in June are two opportunities for county staff to join state and federal partners for virtual meetings and workshops on the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers processes, and separately FEMA and DWR floodplain management principles and Risk Rating 2.0.

National Water Conference’s Regional Spotlight: California on June 1-2, 2021 (virtual):

On June 1-2, 2021, the National Waterways Conference (NWC) will be holding a two-day virtual meeting for interested stakeholders and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). The sessions will work to educate on USACE’s civil works functions, discuss agency processes and delve deeper into how to develop a strong working relationship with the agency. California Floodplain Management Virtual Training: 

Sponsored by FEMA Region 9 in partnership with California DWR, this series of workshops will discuss floodplain management principles, the NFIP, and state standards. Target Audience: Floodplain administrators, elected officials, building officials, and permit and zoning officials are welcome to attend.
