Last week the Care 4 All California Coalition launched a
wide-ranging package of health care-related legislation.
The coalition, led by Health Access and the Service
Employees International Union, is seeking to advance the gains
made under the Affordable Care Act. Their recently announced
legislative
priorities include finding ways to increase the universality
and affordability of health care, reducing costs and prices, and
patient protections.
While the coalition does support some specific bills that
are currently under discussion in the legislature, others aspects
of their priorities remain broad principles. According to the
CSAC Platform, Counties support achieving universal health care
coverage and any efforts toward this goal should simplify the
health care system for recipients, providers, and employers. As
such, CSAC will continue to closely monitor and engage with the
coalition and any efforts to make continued reforms to the health
care system in the state.
